Zavratnica Trail – a unique race through Croatia’s breathtaking bay

The Zavratnica Trail 2025, organised by Velebit Nature Park, is set to take place on 12 April 2025 in Jablanac.

This one-of-a-kind trail race takes runners through the breathtaking Zavratnica Bay, blending a fun challenge with jaw-dropping scenery.

Whether you’re an adult or bringing the kids along, this is your chance to experience one of Croatia’s most beautiful natural spots.

A Scenic Route to Remember

The 6km race kicks off in the centre of Jablanac, winding along a tourist trail for 1.6km towards Zavratnica Bay. From the bay’s deepest point, runners will climb 1.3km up a newly restored hiking path to a stunning viewpoint – the perfect spot for a quick breather and a refreshment stop (your first bracelet checkpoint).

After soaking in the views, it’s back down the same path to the bay, then onwards for 2km to Kula, the second checkpoint (and second bracelet). The final 1km brings you back to Jablanac for a triumphant finish.

Race Details: Who, When, and How Much?

There’s something for everyone at Zavratnica Trail 2025:

Adults (men and women, 15+): 6km
Kids (up to 14 years): 6k

The race starts at 11:00 AM, and the entry fee is a budget-friendly 10 euros, payable by 1 April 2025. Your race pack comes loaded with goodies: a race number, two bracelets, a t-shirt, a participation medal, refreshments, a post-race meal, and GSS insurance.

Prizes Up for Grabs

Top finishers in both categories will score some brilliant prizes:

Adults: 100€, 70€, and 30€ gift vouchers for the top three men and women.
Kids: 50€, 30€, and 20€ gift vouchers for the top three boys and girls.
