ZAGREB, 9 May 2019 – Former Croatia captain Zvonimir Boban and current coach Zlatko Dalić are just two of the names who will take part in a charity match in Zagreb this Sunday.
Sunday’s match at Cibona in Zagreb will mark the anniversary of the most famous derby never played between Dinamo Zagreb and Red Star Belgrade on 13 May 1990.
That day will always be remembered for the riot which took place at Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb between the Bad Blue Boys, fans of Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade fans Delije and the police and for many, the day was the unwritten start of the Homeland War.
All proceeds of the match, played between Dinamo Zagreb legends from the 1990s and HNL football icons, will go to help former Dinamo Zagreb captain and Croatia international Slavko Ištvanić whose son is suffering from cerebral palsy.
The Dinamo Zagreb 90s legends team features Zvonimir Boban, Kujtim Shala, Marko Mlinarić, Vjekoslav Škrinjar, Igor Cvitanović, Dario Šimić, Primož Gliha, Andrej Panadić, Željko Adžić, Goran Vlaović, Mario Stanić and other legends from that era.
The HNL icons team will be led by Zlatko Dalić and features Goran Jurić, Veldin Karić, Silvio Marić, Adrian Kozniku, Miroslav Bičanić, Tomo Šokota, Mate Baturina, Mihael Mikić, Edin Mujčin, Kruno Lovrek, Darko Raić Sudar, Josip Buljat and others, Sportske Novosti writes.
Tickets to the match are 30 kuna and can be purchased at the Bad Blue Boys Fan Shop on Ilica in Zagreb, at all Vivas Bars in Zagreb and Sisak, History Village on Tkalčićeva street and at the Dražen Petrović museum at Cibona.
A special account has also been set up for donations for Slavko Ištvanić by the association ‘Dinamo to smo mi’.
